Decoration : A rectangular box with a hinged lid; decorated with a repeating geometric pattern within broad borders. set inside banded keyline stringing; plain inside. relined with marbled paper and green baize applied to the base; round flush-finished escutcheon; working lock and key; mosaics exhibit the use of some very. very finely grained tesserae
Size : 22.7 x 8.1 x 5.5 cm
Condition : Excellent; losses to one string of the banded keyline border. and rounding to the corners entirely commensurate with age and use; lids shuts well and locks securely
Restoration : relining to interior and base as above
Weight :  286 grams

Notes : The little ‘chequered flag’ squares set within a geometric design featuring eight repeats is identical to those as used on a small rectangular box we have seen. which is labelled for Edmund Nye; the label post-dates his occupation – in 1845 – of the premises on Mount Ephraim now known as The Chalet
