Decoration : Central mosic of Eridge Castle within a naturalistic border. Front panels decorated with a moth and chainlink border. Internally painted blood red.

Condition : A nuymber of areas of lifting and splitting in the veneers but they do not detract. Working lock and key
Restoration : Interior repainted
Weight : 599 grams
The banding is typical of Edmund Nye’s work as is the moth. This was in all likelihood made by Nye with Thomas Barton as his foreman. The image of Eridge Castle itself is not a useful identifier. virtually all Tunbridge ware makers utilised a version of it.
