Decoration : Victorian Tunbridge Ware Stamp Box with lift-off lid; micro mosaic head of Queen Victoria. framed with stringing and micro mosaic borders. The sides of the base and lid with vertical banding in various coloured veneers.Boxes of this nature. featuring lettering – POSTAGE – ONE PENNY – in addition to the queen’s head were made almost without exception by Henry Hollamby and his ‘successors’ Brown. Knight & Kemp; this would appear to be an earlier Hollamby version. and features an image of Victoria made from exceptionally small tesserae – exquisite work.
