Decoration : One of the standard. large configurations of ink stands which were produced featuring three lidded compartments with lift-off lids. two square either side of the inkpot holder. and a rectangular one to the front; the larger lid has a typical extended floral mosaic. with the other lids and edges. and the four sides of the base. all having geometric borders; the whole sits on four bun feet; and the underside is lined with dark grey textured paper

Condition : Excellent; very good. clean other than a little staining to the velvet lining to the ink-pot well; slight scuffing along one side

Weight : 1298 grams
Notes : Even without the original identifying label to the base. this stands out as a Thomas Barton piece; the floral mosaic and stylised geometric frieze around the four sides with it’s green-oak highlights are classic Barton hallmarks. and make for a very nice example of his work.
