He was also one of the town’s properly local artisan craftsmen. plying his trade from various premises in the High Street and Chapel Place. on The Pantiles and on Frant Road.
When this image was created. it showed a part of Tunbridge Wells which was then known as The Parade – use of ‘The Pantiles’ was not restored for another ten years or so. The view is from the location of the Chalybeate Spring which prompted the establishment of the entire town; it was – for those of a certain. discerning vintage – also used as a backdrop for the promotional photo shoot which gave rise to the cover of the seminal album Quality Street by the fine band. World Of Twist.
