Decoration : Floral mosaics to the lid and four sides, bounded with banded key-line stringing and an unusually broad (thirteen square) geometric border; has a plethora of green-stained tesserae; rounded, hinged lid with square ends; original lining to the inside of the lid with sewn bands to hold implements or tools; the well has been relined; working lock and key
Size :  24.1 cm long x 10 cm deep x 8.7 cm deep 
Condition : Excellent; tiles complete; some minimal flaking to the lacquer in places; very fine grain-splits to the curved ends of the lid; original lining and loops in good order; just a very few insignificant bumps and bruises to the veneer; the lid as a whole is very slightly warped and does not close 100% flush

Restoration : relined as above

Weight :  470 grams

Notes : Original rectangular label on the base for Thomas Barton, late Nye; this is a very nice, sound and well-made example
