Henry Hollamby’s Magnum Opus. The view of the Pantiles is one of the most enduringly popular images on Tunbridge ware and to find a box in this condition is truly remarkable. The first example with the iconic depiction of The Pantiles that does not exhibit any crazing nor shrinkage. The box was certainly made by Thomas barton having purchased the Pantiels image from Hollamby. The border within the inner tray, the extensive use of green oak, the floral border all point in the same direction.
