Pattern : Coffee can: Blue ground with enamelled cherubs flanking a cartouche containing Louis Philippe's monogram. There is a gilded floral and scrolled cartouche outwith the cherubs. Saucer: Gilded vine leaves within two gilded bands to the rim. Blue ground with a floral bouquet to the centre surrounded by a gilded border. 
Features : Gilded handle and rim, gilded vine leaf pattern inside the rim of coffee can. 
Condition : Excellent, no chips or cracks.

Dimensions : Coffee can: 5.8cm height, 5.8cm diameter bowl. Saucer: 12.4cm diameter 
Weight : 146 grams

Louis Philippe's monogram occurs no fewer than five times on this coffee can and saucer: once on the decoration of the coffee can and twice on the marks for both pieces as Sevres' mark is a version of his monogram. A mark of an extraordinary ego, no wonder his reign short reign as King of the French ended in revolution provoked abdication.
