Heading : Cut Anglo Irish glass taper decanter c1790
Period : George III
Origin : Ireland, probably Cork
Colour : Clear with grey-blue hue
Stopper : Faceted lozange
Neck : Three applied neck rings with polished printies between.
Body : Band of split petal cuts above a band of split hexagonal cuts and two rows of split oval cuts. A band of broad cross cut diamonds with prismatic edging above a band of graduated petal cuts.
Base : Polished pontil
Glass Type : Lead.
Size : 25.5cm to top of stopper, 12 diameter
Condition : There is some minor fritting to the cuts on the stopper, some black inclusions on the lip and the lower neck ring. A small flake chip on one of the cross cut diamonds.
Restoration : None
Weight : 949 grams
This is a Cork cutting pattern. It is worth noting, however, that decanters made in England were exported to Cork to be cut.
