Heading : Desire Christian Cameo Vase in Gilt Cage c 1900

Bowl Features : Cameo cut aquligea (columbine) flowers and foliage in a deep maroon colour over olive green grounds
Marks : Incised on the foot with DCh – this indicates that the piece was made between the above dates. when Desire Christian was no long designing exclusively for the Meisenthal factory. and was working with his brother and son. Armand and Francois
Type : Inverted baluster shaped vase with an abbreviated square-profile rim; the rim is enclosed by the top ring of a gilt metal cage in the form of a pair of long floral stems. which attach to a second ring enclosing the base of the vase.
Size : 14.2 cm high – 12.5 cm wide between extremities of cage – 5.6 cm diameter at base – vase 7.7 cm diameter at widest point
Condition : Excellent; no chips. scratches or flakes to glass; there are two tiny cracks to the fretted section of the cage at the base. The glass has no chips or cracks
