Gorges Rouard was a decorator of glass and porcelain. He opened his retail outlet Geo Rouard at 34 Avenue de L’Opera and hired one Marcel Goupy to manage the decorating business. Geo Rouard was a huge success and they retailed Baccarat and Lalique ( we have sold examples with their paper label) and the output of other contemporary French manufactories.

The lines produced for Geo Rouard within their own decorating workshop were marked Geo. we have sold one example with the Rouard paper label and the Geo mark. The fused external enamels on this vase are certainly a technique that we developed by Groupy and the marbled effect is most appealing. Goupy did produce his own designs that wwr signed M Goupy from the same workshop as those produced for Geo Rouard.
