Notes: Zanfirco is now the common name for the 'filigrana a retortoli' (twisted filigree) design technique, which was popularised by the Muranese glass-merchant Antonio Sanquirico; having recognised a saleable commodity, the production of which dated back to the 16th century, Sanquirico encouraged local craftsmen to re-adopt the technique in the middle of the 19th century. This decorative style is not exclusive to Salviati.
