Wingen-Sur-Moder became the home of Lalique and it was from there that Lalique made his biggest contribution to the worlds of art and glass. Completed in 1921 the glassworks were state of the art nd thus Lalique who hoped to reduce the cost of art glass with the intention that it would one day have a place in every home. This stunning art deco vase decorated with dahlias is one of the earliest designs produced at the factory which remained under René’s control until Nazi occupation in 1940.
Eric Knowles Comments
Lalique’s often sparing use of enamel is shown to good effect alongside his exquisite draughtsmanship with this Dahlia vase. The balance of the composition integral with frosting and graphite enamel is typical Lalique in as far as being impossible to better.
