Additional Information : Founded by James Powell the Whitefriars glassworks opened in 1834 in the city of London. They commenced producing tableware during the 1860’s and made highly sought after designs into the 20th century. This was part of a series of designs commissioned by Morris and Co ( William Morris) from the designer was Philip Speakman Webb during the 1860s
The designs were simplified in order for James Powell to take them into production from 1880 onwards.
