Additional Information : Founded by James Powell the Whitefriars glassworks opened in 1834 in the city of London. They started the manufacture of tableware during the 1860’s and produced highly sought after designs into the 20th century. Relocating to Middlesex in 1923 many designers were recruited over the following years including Geoffrey Baxter who joined in 1954 and launched his own ‘textured’ glass range. a highly successful endeavour until the closing of Whitefriars in the 1980’s.
