The Fish vase or sculpture was Michael Harris’ hallmark form and also his rarest, most desirable and most highly-prized form. Developed from 1967-69 at the Royal College of Art and then at Mdina Glass he continued to make it at Isle of Wight Studio Glass and there the form was reintroduced in 1982 as part of the Azurene range.

From there the concept has been further extended by his son Tim. The coloured centre of the piece is formed and then rapidly cooled in cold water. The rapid cooling of the exterior creates stresses within the glass that micro fracture the surface and give rise to an irregular crazed appearance. This is then coated in silver chloride to accentrate the pattern on the surface and all cased in clear glass.
