Bowl Features : A pod of four Killer Whales in relief are shown on a foam-flecked ‘stormy sea’ background 
Marks : Signed by the artist to the base
Type : Inverted baluster shape
Size : 19.3 cm tall; 5.0 cm diameter base and 12.2 cm diameter at the widest part of the body
Condition : Excellent; no chips. cracks or flakes
Restoration : None
Weight : 978 grams

Additional Information : ‘Killer Whale’ is the preferred. scientific name for the Orcinus orca – alternatively known as just ‘orca’ in these supposedly more enlightened times; for our part the original  name ‘grampus’ (Latin for ‘big fish’) would be a preferable alternative despite the fact that it is not. This. of course. does not detract in the slightest from Mr Sutcliffe’s superb work.
