Heading : Rare Thomas Webb iridescent bronze glass vase
Date : 1878-1883
Origin : Thomas Webb. Stourbridge England
Colour : Emerald green base onto which metallic compounds are fused to produce indigo and blue hues
Bowl : Twin handled amphora
Pontil : The foot is moulded
Size : Height 19.0 cms.

Condition : Excellent. no chips or cracks

Webb’s bronze was referred to as ‘Green Bronze’ in their pattern books. Probably one of the first successful attempts by glass makers in the 19th century to replicate the iridescence occurring on excavated ancient glass. The designs used by Webb for their Bronze glass were drawn from ancient Greek pottery designs.
