Description

This is the epitome of 1940s style. This leaf vase was made by John Walsh and was designed by Clyne Farquharson. It bears the signature of Farquharson to the pontil and is dated. NRD stands for national registered designer. Farquharson joined the design team at Walsh in 1924 having graduated form the Birmingham school of art. His first dated pieces are from 1936 and he remained with the factory until the early 1950s. William as he was adopted his grandmothers maiden name Clyne to brand his designs. He was highly regarded by the Walsh factory becoming chief draughtsman at 18 years of age and being given th honour of having his name associated to the pieces he designed.

This pattern is known as “Leaf” and features deep cut leaves on etched stems. It is lead glass.  It stands 7 3/8th inches tall and the flared rim is also 7 3/8th inches. No chips of cracks.
