Eric Knowles Comments

This vase has been commissioned by ourselves as a commitment to recognise the merits of talented contemporary glassmakers as shown here by Phil Attril based in Surrey. Phil studied at the RCA and graduated in 2001. This exemplifies the glassmakers raw materials and process, earth and fire! This is reminiscent of volcanic rock strata. This piece is one of three pieces of similar style made by Phil, each is unique. Phil advises that this was in fact inspired by woodgrain, but we all perceive art in slightly different ways.
