Daum opened an additional factory at Croismare in 1925. The business strategy was to create a rival to their own premium brand with their own production. Val, Mado and Lorrain were the brand names set to compete with Muller Freres, Delatte, Vessières Freres and more. There were minor differences between those produced in Nancy and those in Croismare, in this specific case it was just the branding.

The business strategy did not take into consideration the severe demand destruction created by the event that was the Wall Street Crash of 1929. The factory was forced to close in December 1934 just nine years after opening in an attempt to shore up the balance sheet and save the entire company.
