Gallé himself was a keen artist. his glass is considered to be one of the major forces in the french Art Nouveau movement. His “Writings on Art” which was released posthumously in 1908 gives a clear insight into his design ethos. The presence of the star at the begining of the signature tells us that this exampe was produced after Gallé died in 1904. This is without doubt the prettiest banjo vase we have seen.
