Charlie Meaker was born May 21. 1946 in Billings. Montana. USA. He was raised in Bozeman and graduated from Bozeman Senior High School where he was active on the ski team. He attended Montana State College and received his bachelor’s degree in professional design in 1968. After graduation. he was coach of the University of Washington ski team. He was a manager of the U.S. ski team for the World Cup. 1972-1974. Following a serious skiing accident. Charlie started his glass career by taking an introductory course at The Glasshouse in 1974 and then studied glass design at the Royal College of Art in London between 1977 and 1979. went to Toronto Canada 1975-1976 and Sweden. 1976-1977. He was a glass designer at Dartington Crystal in England. For 30 years. he was a professor at the Design School Designskole in Copenhagen. Denmark and was director of Inferno Glassworks. Bornholm. Denmark. He died in 2011 in Bozeman. Montana. USA
