We have seen several of these with metal mounts upon elaborate pedestal stems purporting to be Russian and made to deceive. The crystal used in the Russian artefacts is almost invariably perfectly clear without discontinuities in the structure. The fact that the “negative” half contains imperfections within the structure is positive to the artistic merit. it looks just like falling snow.
