A curious piece of North American folk art. this pastry wheel (or jagger) is fashioned from whale bone and baleen. Crafted by whalemen as either gifts for loved ones or for extra income. fine examples like this are increasingly hard to come by.
The wheel is designed for cutting and decorating pastry and the fork end for pricking both decoration and air holes. Whilst we wouldn’t advise putting this jagger in the dishwasher. it could. with care. still be used by a 21st century baking enthusiast.
