Additional Information : This is believed to be an illustration prepared for one of Colbran’s many Tunbridge Wells guide books; Dodd also reproduced almost exactly the same view as a watercolour. currently held at The Amelia which will house the town’s museum exhibits from Spring 2022. St Helena cottage marks the location of the (now blocked) entrance to the caves under the common. initially excavated as a source for sand. and re-opened as air raid shelters during WWII.
