Additional Information : signed with monogram to lower left hand corner; Williams lived in Barnes, London and painted many scenes of the local landscape, and the river Thames. He was taught to paint by his father, Edward, who was also an accomplished artist. The setting for this picture has not been established, but there were ponds to the north of Barnes Common - one of William's favourite haunts - at Barn Elms Park, and others a little further away in Putney Acres.
