These crests are generically termed ‘Farmer’s Arms’ although we have not found an exact match for this engraving it is a relatively common theme on both glass and porcelian from the 18th and 19th centuries.
God Speed The Plough is a relatively common inscription of creamware and stoneware. We have also seen this on both Lowestoft and Liverpool porcelain all dating from a similar period. Quite why this phrase should proliferate on domestic wares from the late 18th and early 19th century is unknown to us.
