These beautiful cut glass candlesticks are not in fact Georgian but are in fact a pair of Victorian candlesticks in the Georgian style. Antique Victorian candlesticks are often in the Georgian style as most major glassmakers in England produced commercial lines of glassware in the early 20th century in the Georgian style. These are another example of this reversion to a simplicity and elegance after three decades of elaborate rich cutting and intense decoration.

These are frequently misattributed and it is an easy error to make for the inexperienced. Vandyke rims resembe the gable ends of Dutch houses and these too were reproduced in the early 20th century. The sconces (or savels if you prefer) that may be inserted into the capital, and provide a drip pan, are another late 18th and early 19th century feature that was reproduced.
