Additional Information : Lisbon is simply the English name given to the fortified wine Carcavelos that was immensely popular during the early 18th century. This enjoyed some tax advantages but it’s popularity was surpassed when the English came to dominate production in the Doura valley and the port wine trade. We are unable to report on Carcavelos further as we are unable to find a supplier in the UK and we are advised by a customer in Lisbon that the vineyards have now most been used for development. It is still made but in vastly reduced quantities.
The stopper is unsual. There are serveral examples of this polished stopper within the reference given
