Additional Information :  Museum examples with pewter lids are dated to 1750 onwards.  There are a number of dating indicators. The ball finial was no longer fashionable after 1810. The irregular milled edge on the lid has been applied by hand again indicative of an earlier date. The shallow cuts exhibit irregular frits at the edge. a feature usually observed on earlier cut glass prior to the adoption of steam powered cutting wheels and the Boheme style cutting pattern is taken directly from early 18th century examples. The applied foot is also an early feature
