Description
A Georgain Regency Bristol Blue Wine Carafe c1825
This is one of the most substantial carafes we have had and a real statement piece. It has a high kick base and a glass tipped pontil scar. Our colleagues in the bottle collecting fraternity advise is that the high kick base and glass tipped pontil scar is typical of production from the first quarter of the 19th century. The carafe has good pouring rim free from chips and when you view the photographs you will observe that the rim does fall away slightly on one side. Also note that the body of the carafe itself is not quite symmetrical. Magnum decanters and carafes were very much in vogue primarily for champagne and claret during the very late 18th and early 19th century. as was “over indulgence”. Even if not filled to capacity this is still a statement piece and will adorn any dining table.
It stands 12 inches tall !
No chips cracks or restoration.
