Description
This is very pleasing on the eye. It may be French. German or Bohemian. all produced bell shaped gilded decanters of the same form. The gilding on the body is in outstanding condition. The faceted lozenge stopper is not the original. it may have had this form originally or a simple gilded ball. In order to fit the stopper the aperture has been chamfered. The gilding style may be described as neo classical swags and bows. It may well be some twenty or thirty years earlier and when suggesting c1800 we are playing safe. We have sold similar magnum decanters quite recently
It is clean and clear and stands 9 inches high to the rim and 10 3/4 to the top of the stopper
