SOLD – Regency Amber Glass Spirit Decanter c1835

Description

A superb Regency Glass spirit decanter in light amber with its original hollow mushroom stopper. The panels have radial pattern cuts and arches of printie cuts. The corners are canted and the base has a deep polished pontil.

You can see an almost identical example on page 344 of “The Decanter. An Illustrated History of Glass from 1650’ by Andy McConnell’ which is a fantastic read. superbly researched and presented. It may well be the same decanter as they are very rare and the first we have had in 12 years. This is a substantial piece of lead glass that weighs 1.5Kgs. It stands 11 inches tall and is 3 5/8th inches square.
