A delightful brilliantly coloured pair of amethyst wine or spirit serving bottles for the period dining table. They have stoppers labelled whisky and rum. but they were also used to decant wine to be served at the table. They have an applied neck ring and an everted thickened rim. intended to take a cork stopper.

The amethyst colouration is as intense as I have seen and is achieved through the addition of manganese to the glass. The glass contains multiple small inclusions and striations resulting form period manufacturing techniques

They stand 12 1/2 inches tall without the stoppers and will make a colourful impact to any dining table.
