SOLD – Georgian Dutch Marquetry Decanter Box c1780

Description

A superb Dutch marquetry decanter box containing its original six gold gilded decanters and stoppers and one dram glass. The box has superb workmanship with inlaid mother of pearl with a red liner and six compartments. The decanters are all original. square in form with gold gilded flowers and scrolls around the upper sectioon. Snapped pontils.

No chips cracks or restoration. the box is in excellent condition with only one rear corner having some minor damage underneath where the laminate has come away from the base. The decanters have no chips cracks or restoration and are all generally clean and clear. It has one of its original dram glasses which fits into the slot on the lid. There would originally have been two but one is missing but can be replaced. we will do so as son as one is located.

Almost certainly a campaign piece used by the gentleman officer to carry around his favourite tipples. The box measures 9 ½ inches tall. 11 inches long and 7 ½ inches wide. The decanters are 7 ½ inches tall.
