These were essentially moulds used for serving either butter or savoury jellies. such as calves shin jelly. pigs shin jelly and salted bone marrow and other delicious comestibles that required to be set. Sweet jellies would be served in jelly glasses. These may also have been used to set custards. creams and other deserts.
