Description
A genuine rarity. This Georgian hexagonal panel moulded jelly glass c1750 has a cushion knop above domed foot. Jelly glasses were presented on glass tazzas and were a boon to period cooks who would be assured of a firm set for their desserts . Jellies were both fruit based and spiced and would typically accompany various suckets in a colourful display. This is a particularly good example as the rim has “peaks” at each apex.
The glass has an excellent high lead smokey blue hue and has small soot inclusions within the metal
English lead. no chips cracks or restoration. it measures 4 inches tall with a 2 1/8 inch bowl and 2 1/4 inch foot.
