Description
A genuine rarity. This hexagonal panel moulded jelly glass has cushion knop and domed foot c1750. Jelly glasses were presented on glass tazzas and helped period cooks with both a firm set for their desserts and as well as their presentation . Jellies were both fruit based and spiced and would typically accompany both sweet and savoury custards and syllabub and other suckets.
The glass has an excellent hue. There is a small aggregation of sooty particles on one of the panels. This is a feature of period glass. not a fault.
English lead. no chips cracks or restoration. it measures 4 inches tall with a 2 5 1/6 inch bowl and 2 inch foot.
