Heading : A double ended dram glass
Date : Second half 18th century
Origin : Low countries. North east France or Belgium
Colour : Clear
Bowl : A ribbed bell and a round funnel
Stem : Two ribbed flatened knops
Foot : The rim of lower bowl
Pontil : The pontil mark is on the base of the clear bowl
Glass Type : Soda lime
Size : 9.4cm tall. 4.4cm ribbed bowl. 3.8cm clear bowl
Condition : There is wear on both rims
Restoration : None
Weight : 41g
The sooty particles within the glass are a feature of their manufacture and not a flaw. There are also fold lines . “pucella marks” visible in the clear bowl. We have only seen English lead examples previously from the mid 18th century. This is the first of two continental examples.
