Description
A superb and very rare Georgian rhenish wine glass c1780. In the style of a “roemer glass ” for export from England to Northern Europe in the mid 18th cen.
It has a wrythened cup bowl with a supporting milled collar at the base. The stem is hollow and forms part of the bowl such that it will also fill with wine. The ribbed stem has applied “raspberry” prunts. Sits on a conical folded foot with a snapped pontil.
English lead. no chips cracks or restoration. it measures an impresive 6 1/8 inches tall with a 2 9/16 inch bowl and 2 7/8 inch foot.
