SOLD – Georgian German Hessen Wine Glass Goblet c1750

Description

This glass owes its engraving to a German allegory. ” Nur einer verletze mich”…. only one thing hurts me. love arrows to the heart. The engraving shows an arrow piercing a heart at the centre of the engraved cartouche. The high domed folded foot. hollow stem and form strongly indicate to this being made in Hessen Germany.

The glass has a collectors sticker to the base Prof and Mrs P.H Plesch Collections. Peter Hariolf Plesch was a chemist who fled germany to avoid persecution. He became Emeritus professor at Keele university and was a renowned collector of both glass and ceramics.

It stands 6 1/2 inches tall ( 17cms) with a 3 inch bowl (7.5 cms)  and a 3 1/2 inch foot (7cms). No chips . cracks or restoration
