Description
A magnificent TALL Saxon “Friendship Goblet” which dates to c1740.
It has a round funnel bowl which has been finely engraved with 2 gentlemen meeting in gardens with the inscription above “HET.WEL.VAR.ABSENTE VRINDE ” which translates to ‘health and prosperity to absent friends’. It sits on a superb facet cut baluster stem with teared knops above a conical foot with snapped pontil.
It measures a very impressive 10 7/8 inches tall with a 4 ¾ inch bowl and 4 ¾ inch foot.
No chips cracks or restoration and in excellent overall condition.
