The clear silicone filler ensures that the glass retains its original dimensions but these are easy to detect. The other method to remove chips is to grind and polish rims. this is destructive rather than constructive but this is preferred by the antique glass trade as the restoration may be obfuscated.
We are unable to find any other dealer who utilises silicon fills. A former employee loathed this method of restoration but it has integrity and demands integrity . We also have glassware polished when the occasions demands. such as removing scratches. fritting and chips that are too small to be filled.
