Description
A superbly engraved Georgian mercury air twist wine glass c1750. A round funnel bowl beautifully engraved with stylised vine leaves and tendrils that support a large bunch of grapes formed by cut and polished printies. The vine leaves are particularly well executed with wheel cut veins that graduate towards the edge of the leaves. The pointed round funnel bowl is comparatively copious for a mid-18th century wine glass. English lead glass with good colour and tooling marks as demanded by collectors
The stem has a single series mercury air twist cable that is generously proportioned. It has a conical foot with rough snapped pontil. There are no chips. cracks or restoration.
It measures 6 5/8 inches tall with a 2 ¾ inch bowl and 3 1/8 inch foot.
