Description
A Georgian Mercury Twist Wine Glass c1750
An elegant mercury twist wine glass with a slightly flared drawn trumpet bowl. The stem exhibits the flattened tapes of air that refract light to give the appearance of mercury to stunning effect. Conical foot and snapped pontil.
English lead. no chips. cracks or restoration.
The bowl has exemplary pucella marks and the metal contains the inclusion that collectors demand.
The glass measures 6 3/8 inches tall with a 2 ¾ inch bowl and 2 15/16 inch foot.
