Additional Information : Norwegian in origin.The Kongelig Allernaadigst Octrojerede Nordske Compagnie sent one Morten Waern known as Martin Warren in England on an act of industrial espionage to determine the secrets of the English glass industry. Having tried to recruit glassblowers in Liverpool and Manchester he was sent to Newgate prison London to reflect upon his sins. He was released on bail and in 1755 and fled the country. Several English glass workers arrived in Norway together with many more from Germany where the “company” had sent other agents. The names of the English glass workers who emigrated with their families to the Hurdal and Nostetangen factories are documented.
