There is desire amongst collectors and dealers alike to infer a Jacobite interpretation to every engraved flower and frond. For the most part this is tenuous at best and risible in others. The inexactitudes. some terminal. espoused by some have been the cause of much mirth. everything form christograms to oak trees and the motto of the Black Prince. great pieces of creativity alike . Floral themes are the most common decorative theme on both glass and porcelain throughout the 18th century. a fraction had some Jacobite context
This glass does have a six petal rose or possibly carnation but the leaves are incongrous for both.The second flower with polished petals and buds may be a forget-me-not and is more than likely just a decorative engraving.
