Description
A truly stunning example of a Georgian Facet Cut wine glass which dates to c1790.
It has a lipped round funnel bowl which has been beautifully cut with swags of flowers around the rim. consisting of two forget-me-nots and a single sunflower head. The veins and stems of the flower heads have all been diamond point engraved and overall the workmanship is of exceptional quality. It has scale facet cuts at the base of the bowl developing into diamond facet cuts on the stem. A conical foot which has been scallop cut with a band of printie cuts in the middle. Polished pontil to the foot.
Forget-me-nots have a widely known and intuitive jacobite inference
English lead. no chips cracks or restoration. it measures 5 7/8 inches tall with a 2 3/8 inch bowl and 2 ¾ inch foot.
