The open and closed bud pairing indicates that this was engraved after the death of the "Old Pretender " James Stuart in 1766. The jay in flight is a reference to Aesop's fable in which it is declared of a jay wearing peacock feathers that "fine feathers do not a fine bird make" -  George should not be the king.
